Between Garonne and Dordogne from castles to vineyards

At the heart of one of the most famous vineyards in the world, Saint-Emilion a stopping point on the Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle path possesses many remains from the past such as its monolithic church.

At the Grand Barrail castle you will enjoy refinement and a hearty welcome. You will start your itinerary on the clayey-limestone plateau amid the vineyards. From hills to hills you will arrive at Villefranche-de-Lonchat a pivotal city between the Saint-Emilion and Bergerac vintages. Further you will discover the remains of the Gurson castle, the Roman façade of Carsac church or the Saint-Martin church with its Saintergeois style.

After having crossed the Isle valley you will reach the immense forests of la Double, scattered of ponds and full of game.
Aubeterre one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France towers the Dronne valley and harbours an underground marvel, the monolithic church of Saint-Jean. Cross back the Dronne to find back la Double, the helmets with wooden-sided and cob houses, the Roman churches and the castles.
Have a stop in Siorac for its fortified church, in Segonzac for the Martinie castle and the church from the XVth century and admire the Bellet castle built in the XVth century in the vicinity of Garennes pond.

You will reach the banks of l’Isle at Saint-Astier where the extraction of white stone allowed the construction of a church overlooked by a square church tower from the XVIth century.
You will cross the Isle at Neuvic to visit the castle and its botanical park. Further you will find back the Sourzac castle.
