Day 3 : PORT-EN-BESSIN-HUPPAIN - AGNEAUX (117 on 354 km)

Near the landing beaches you will have a rest at the castle of La Chenevière a XVIIIth century home nestled in a more than 3 hectare verdant case .

Have a trip up to the Escures tower to discover a superb panorama over the Bessin.

Every beach reminds the « Yankees » glorious epic Omaha Beach, Gold Beach, Juno Beach where the scene of heroic fights commemorated by numerous monuments, steles and museums.

In Arromanches the traces of the American military genius can be found with the artificial port which enabled the allies to land thousand of tons of material daily.

This itinerary along the beaches will provide the opportunity to discover the charm of Port-en-Bessin, the XII th century remains of Sainte-Marie abbey, the superb town park of Luc-sur-Mer, the Xith century Roman tower of the Lion-sur-Mer church, the fortified church from the XII th century sea side resort of Ouistreham. Make a detour up to the Caen memorial in order to realize that peace and liberty are the most precious values for Mankind.

At Fontaine-Henry, you will discover a river Loire castle from the XVth and XVIth centuries at the heart of Normandy illustrating the Renaissance architecture. The Bayeux tapestry tells in fifty-height scenes the conquest of the England’s throne by William the Conqueror. The Mondaye abbey founded in 1215 by Saint-Martin,the Balleroy castle and the Roman abbey church of Cerisy-la-Forêt will line your road.
