The Picarde valleys between the bay of Somme and le Boulonnais

Nearby the Authie valley and at the heart of a 14 hectare park the Remaisnil castle (XVIII th century) stands in a majestic way.

A picturesque road will lead you up to the Canche. On its banks and on the middle of flowered prairies you will discover the small town of Frévent and its museum devoted to the peasants’ and local workers’ labour.

A bit farther the Flers castle a XVIII th century building stands in the very countryside.

Hesdin a town founded by Charles Quint is situated at the bottom of a small valley, at the confluent of the rivers Canche and Ternoise. Drive the Ternoise valley up to Auchy which has kept a beautiful XII th century abbey church.

Azincourt a major historical site of Artois is linked to a famous battle of the Hundred Year War which saw the English victory over the French army. This event is retraced at the medieval historical Centre built on the site.

Then you will reach the upper valley of Aa where the pastures lie beside a river lined with poplars and willow trees and scattered with hydraulic mills. At Fauquembergues you will admire a XIII th century fortified church which overlooks the town and the valley.

You will follow the valley where the Bléquin flows before arriving in Desvres, famous for its earthenware glasses. The House of the Earthenware Glass retraces the history of the industrial development based on the copy of old decors.

Along the GR 120 (registered hiking trail) which winds through the forest of Boulogne you will find back le Boulonnais, your itinerary starting point.
